Former BIGBANG Member Seungri Says He's Married and Expecting His First Child ๐ถ
This one surprised a lot of fans. ๐ฎ Seungri, who debuted with BIGBANG back in 2006, says he's married and has a baby on the way. Here's what was reported, plus the serious side of this story.
The news: married, with a baby due early next year ๐ผ
Reports that Seungri's partner is pregnant came out on Tuesday, October 27 (The Korea Herald). At first, reports said the couple planned to get married after their son is born in January.
The next day, Seungri set the record straight. He told Ilgan Sports that they had already registered their marriage, and he denied that the pregnancy came first. The couple reportedly lives in Gangnam, Seoul, and they're not planning a separate wedding ceremony right now.
Why this story isn't all congratulations ๐ค
Seungri left BIGBANG and retired from entertainment in 2019, after he became a central figure in the Burning Sun scandal. He was convicted on several charges and sentenced to 18 months in prison, and he was released in February 2023. Since then, he has mostly stayed out of the Korean entertainment industry, with a few appearances overseas.
He's also facing a new complaint. A man in his 30s accuses Seungri and people he was with of assault, threats and unlawful confinement at a Gangnam restaurant in August. Footage aired by JTBC reportedly shows Seungri picking up a soju bottle. His legal representative says he did pick up the bottle but denies any assault or threats, and says he will fully cooperate with the investigation. Nothing has been decided in that case yet.
A new baby is happy news for any family, and we hope the little one arrives healthy. ๐ But lots of fans have mixed feelings about Seungri, and that's okay too.
