Your camera and recordings
Videos you open from your device play only on your device. The camera view is shown on your screen and is not sent anywhere.
When you tap Record, your recording is saved only on your device. Background effects run on your phone: the app downloads the effect tool from Google, but your video never leaves your device. A recording only leaves your phone if you choose to share it yourself or post it to the Dance Challenge.
Dance with friends: if you tap Dance it with friends or join a friend's cover, the take you pick is sent to us with the dancer name you type, a random ID for your device and where in the song it starts. Only people who have that cover's link can see it. It is never listed or posted anywhere, and it is deleted after 14 days. The cover video itself is made on your phone. To take your part out sooner, email us.
When you turn on Hearts, the app looks at your camera picture on your phone to see how your arms and legs are moving, and compares that with the dance. The body-tracking tool is downloaded from Google, but your camera picture never leaves your device, and nothing about how you moved is saved or sent to us.
Mira, your dance coach
Mira teaches a dance one 8-count at a time. If you allow the camera, Mira checks how well you match each step on your phone, using the same on-device body tracking as Hearts. Your camera picture never leaves your device. If you finish a lesson with a score, we store the score, the song, the random device ID and any nickname you choose, so it can appear in your progress and on the weekly scoreboard.
Lele's Lessons
Lele's Lessons are step-by-step lessons included with Pro. To open them, the app sends us your Pro unlock code so we can check that Pro is active. Lessons play like any other dance, and your camera stays on your device.
Next-song vote and dance tracking
To pick the next songs and see which dances people practice, we store some activity in our database, which is hosted by Neon. Each record uses a random, anonymous ID made for your device. It isn't your name, email or phone number.
- Next-song vote: the song you vote for, any song you suggest, the device ID, your country and the time.
- Dance tracking: events such as starting a dance, recording or installing the app, with the song, the mode, your language, the device ID, your country and the time.
- Practice minutes: how many minutes you practiced each day, with the device ID.
Dance Challenge
If you post a video to the Dance Challenge, we receive and store the video you pick, the song, the stage name you type, a random ID for your device and the time you posted. Videos are stored with Vercel, our hosting provider.
- Every video is checked before it goes public. Approved videos appear on the Challenge wall, where anyone can watch them. Videos waiting for review aren't listed anywhere, but they are stored at a hard-to-guess web address.
- Ratings: when you rate a video we store the stars and the same random device ID, so each phone gets one vote. Ratings are shown as an average.
- Use a nickname. Don't put your full name, school, address or other personal info in your stage name or video.
- Kids: dancers under 13 need a parent or guardian's permission before posting.
- Removing a video: contact us and we'll delete your video and its ratings. We can remove any video at any time.
Challenge rules
Only post videos of yourself dancing. No inappropriate content, bullying or other people who haven't agreed to be in your video. By posting, you give KPop Mirror permission to show your video on the Challenge wall and the KPop Mirror website. The music and choreography belong to their owners.
What stays on your device
Your saved parts, speed and mirror settings, recently practiced dances, practice minutes, recordings you keep, your stage name, your star ratings, your language choice, whether Hearts is on and your random device ID are stored in your browser. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Song suggestions
If you send us your top 3 songs, we receive only the song names and any note you type. We don't ask for your name or email. The answers are delivered to us by email through FormSubmit, a form service.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the app. Google Analytics may set cookies. These tools never see your camera or your recordings.
Basic and Pro
Basic is free forever: 6 dances plus the Song of the day and Voters’ choice, a 45-second try of every other dance, the practice tools, Mira for Main dances, scoring and recording. Pro is $4.99 one time, with no subscription. It adds Lele's Lessons, unlimited full-dance Mira lessons and every extra.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email and payment status from Stripe so we can unlock and restore Pro. We never see your full card number. If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian before buying.
YouTube videos
Dance videos from YouTube play through the official YouTube player and are covered by YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. All music and choreography belong to their owners. KPop Mirror is not affiliated with any artist, label, or YouTube.
Refunds
If Pro doesn't work for you, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a refund.
Deleting your data
KPop Mirror has no accounts. To remove everything stored on your phone, including your random device ID, clear your browser data for this site. To delete Challenge videos, ratings, votes or other records tied to your device, email us at neitaprof@gmail.com and we'll remove them.
