How to Learn K-pop Dances at Home for Free (4 Easy Steps)

Our new KPop Mirror video. Tap for sound. (Dancer in the video is AI-generated.)

Ever watched a K-pop dance practice and thought, "how do they move that fast?" The secret is that nobody learns it at full speed. You slow it down, loop the hard part and practice in front of a mirror. KPop Mirror puts all of that on your phone, 100% FREE, with no sign-up and no app store.

Step 1: Pick a song and start with the chorus

Open KPop Mirror and choose a song. Tap Main dance to learn just the famous chorus part first. It is the move everyone recognizes, and it is the fastest way to feel like you can actually do the dance. New to K-pop dance? Start with our list of easy K-pop dances for beginners.

Step 2: Slow it down to 0.5x

Every dance in the app is the idols' own official dance practice video, so you are learning the real choreography, not someone's cover. Tap Slower until you can see every arm and foot clearly. You can go all the way down to 0.25x, then speed back up as it clicks.

Step 3: Repeat the hard part

There is always one 8-count that trips you up. Tap Start and End around it and KPop Mirror loops that section until you nail it. Use the 5-6-7-8 count-in so you come in on the beat every time.

Step 4: Dance with your camera, then record and share

Turn on your camera to dance right next to the idols, mirrored like a real studio mirror. When you are ready, hit Record, watch yourself back in slow motion to see what to fix, add a stage background and share it with friends. Your camera and videos stay on your phone.

What is free?

Basic is free forever: every dance, every speed, repeat, your camera side by side, Coach Mira for the chorus of every song, move scoring and recording. Pro adds Lele's Lessons (step-by-step tutorials from Eleaya Neveah), every stage background, Idol Glow and watermark-free HD downloads for a one-time $4.99. No subscription.
